De Stichting Donemus (Documentatie Centrum Nederlandse Muziek) werd in 1947 opgericht om de Nederlandse hedendaagse muziek te promoten. Daartoe gaf de stichting partituren uit en verzamelde documentatie over de Nederlandse muziek. De collectie is mede opgebouwd als ondersteuning van de muziekuitgeverij en bestaat uit de uitgegeven partituren, documentatie over de uitgegeven componisten en hun composities, alsmede audio-opnamen van uitvoeringen van de werken. Met name bij de audio-opnamen zitten unieke opnamen.

Donemus (Documentation Center Dutch Music) was founded in 1947 to promote Dutch contemporary music. To this end works by Dutch composers were published and Dutch contemporary music was documented. The collection was partly formed to support the music publishing and consists of the scores of published works, documentation on Dutch composers and recordings of performances of the works. Some of these recordings are unique.

De componist Matthijs Vermeulen (1888-1967), geboren Van der Meulen, is de auteur van symfonieën (zeven), kamermuziek, liederen en enkele boeken over muziek en filosofie. Hij was daarnaast criticus en essayist. In 1921 vestigde Vermeulen zich met vrouw en kinderen in Frankrijk. Hij voorzag in zijn levensonderhoud door het schrijven van artikelen voor het Soerabaiasch Handelsblad. Tijdens de oorlog verloor Vermeulen zijn vrouw en zoon Josquin. In 1946 keerde hij terug naar Nederland en werd recensent bij De Groene Amsterdammer. Hij hertrouwde met Thea Diepenbrock. Sindsdien componeerde hij nog twee liederen, het Strijkkwartet en de Zesde en Zevende Symfonie. Hij overleed op 26 juli 1967 in Laren.

The composer Matthijs Vermeulen (1888-1967), né Van der Meulen, is the author of symphonies (seven), instrumental and vocal chamber music and books about music and philosophy. He was also a renowned music critic and essayist. In 1921 Vermeulen settled in France with his wife and children sustaining his livelihood through writing articles for the Soerabaiasch Handelsblad, a Dutch East-Indies daily. During the war Vermeulen lost both his wife and his son Josquin. In 1946 he returned to the Netherlands and became a music critic for De Groene Amsterdammer. He remarried with Thea Diepenbrock. Since then he composed two more songs, the String Quartet and the Sixth and Seventh Symphonies. Matthijs Vermeulen died on July 26, 1967 in Laren.
