Publicist en doopsgezind predikant, beroepen in de gemeenten Warns (1895-1901), Enkhuizen (1901-1907) en Sint Annaparochie (1908-1909 en 1911-1916). Betreft manuscripten (deels ongepubliceerd) en 88 cahiers. In deze cahiers zijn zowel eigen publicaties ingeplakt als de reacties hierop in de vorm van recensies, artikelen en correspondentie. Met name interessant is deze collectie voor onderzoek naar de onorthodoxe theïstische stroming binnen de doopsgezinde gemeenschap in de eerste helft van de twintigste eeuw.

Bakels was a publisher and a Mennonite preacher called as minister to Warms (1895-1901), Enkhuizen (1901-1907) and Sint Annaparochie (1908-1909 and 1911-1916). The collection consists of manuscripts, some of which are unpublished, and 88 exercise books containing Bakels' own publications as well as reactions to these in the form of reviews, articles and correspondence. This collection is mainly interesting for research into the unorthodox theistic flow within the Mennonite community in the first half of the twentieth century.
