Samuel Louis (Sem) Hartz verwierf internationale bekendheid als grafisch ontwerper en kopergraveur. Hij maakte naam met zijn postzegels, waaronder koninginnezegels, zijn bankbiljetten en drukletters. Zijn gehele loopbaan werkte hij voor de beroemde grafische onderneming Joh. Enschedé en Zonen in Haarlem. De collectie bestaat met name uit correspondentie (vooral over de productie van zijn drukletter Linotype Juliana, 1958) en uit drukwerk (boekjes en efemera) van zijn private press, de Tuinwijkpers.

Samuel Lois (Sem) Hartz achieved international fame as a graphic designer and copperplate engraver. He became famous for his stamps, in particular stamps with the queen of the Netherlands, his banknotes and his typefaces. During his entire career he worked at the famous printing firm Joh. Enschedé en Zonen in Haarlem, which dates back to the 18th century. The collection consists mainly of correspondence, in particular about the production of his typeface Linotype Juliana of 1958, and of printed matter, such as books and ephemera from his private printing press, the Tuinwijkpers.

De drukkerij Joh. Jesse (1888-1976) was gevestigd in Amsterdam. Zij was aanvankelijk gespecialiseerd in kantoorboeken, losbladige zakboekjes en klein gelegenheidsdrukwerk. Tijdens het laatste jaar van de Duitse bezetting drukte Jesse Het (illegale) Parool. Tevens verzorgde Jesse drukwerk voor de voetbalclub A.F.C. Ajax. Het archief bestaat voor een groot deel uit financiële administratie en enveloppen met voorbeeldexemplaren van drukorders.

The printing office Johannes Jesse (1888-1976) was established in Amsterdam. At first it specialized in office books, loose-leaf notebooks and small occasional printed matter. In the last year of the German occupation Jesse printed the (illegal) newspaper Het Parool. Besides this, Jesse printed for the Dutch football club A.F.C. Ajax. The archive consists for a large part of financial documents and envelopes with examples of printing orders.
