Marcel Henri Bregstein was vanaf 1934 hoogleraar in de privaatrechtelijke vakken aan de Nederlandsche Handels-Hoogeschool. Daarna was hij van 1939 tot 1945 hoogleraar Handelsrecht, faillissementsrecht en internationaal privaatrecht en vanaf 1945 tot 1957 hoogleraar burgerlijk recht, recht op de industriële eigendom en burgerlijk procesrecht aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. In het archief bevinden zich stukken betreffende zijn onderwijsactiviteiten. Daarnaast zijn er ook stukken betreffende lezingen en publicaties.

Marcel Henri Bregstein was Professor of Private Law at the Nederlandsche Handels-Hoogeschool (Netherlands School of Commerce) in Rotterdam from 1934. After that he was Professor of Commercial Law, Insolvency Law and International Private Law at the University of Amsterdam from 1939 to 1945, and Professor of Private Law, Industrial Property Law and Civil Procedure from 1945 to 1957. The archive includes documents concerning his teaching activities as well as lectures and publications.

De collectie omvat handgeschreven commentaren en lezingen, collegelijsten en collegedictaten van de bibliothecaris van de Stadsbibliotheek en hoogleraar in de rechtsgeleerdheid aan het Amsterdamse Athenaeum Illustre H.C. Cras (1739-1820). Cras kan beschouwd worden als degene die het vak rechtsgeleerdheid aan het Athenaeum Illustre deed herleven. De collectie geeft vooral een goed beeld van de visie op de rechtsgeleerdheid in de tijd van de Verlichting, in het bijzonder op het natuurrecht.

This collection consists of material of H.C. Cras (1739-1820), a professor of law at the Athenaeum Illustre in Amsterdam and librarian of the Amsterdam municipal library. The collection contains handwritten comments and lectures, lists of lectures and lecture notes. Cras can be considered to be the one who revived law as a field of study at the Athenaeum Illustre. The collection gives a good impression of the view on law, in particular natural law, during the Enlightenment.

Het studentengezelschap Du choc des sentiments et des opinions la verité jaillit et s'échappe en rayons, het oudste Amsterdamse dispuut, werd in 1796 opgericht door studenten rechten. Het reglement van orde is toonaangevend geweest voor de latere disputen. Het dispuut werd opgeheven in 1808. Het archief van Du Choc geeft inzicht in de opzet, werkwijze en doelstelling van dit dispuut. De in het archief opgenomen verhandelingen laten zien waar juridische studenten in de tijd van de Bataafse Republiek en het Koninkrijk Holland zich in het kader van hun studie mee bezighielden.

The student union 'Du Choc des sentiments et des opinions la verité jaillit et s'échappe en rayons' was founded in Amsterdam in 1796 by students of law and is the oldest student union in Amsterdam. For this reason its rules and regulations became an example for future student unions. It was discontinued in 1808. The collection consists of the archive and offers a good insight into its organization, its methods and its aims. The treatises in the archive show what students of law were interested in at the time of the Batavian Republic and the Kingdom of Holland around 1800.

Het archief van Jacob Israël de Haan bevat correspondentie, persoonlijke aantekeningen, publicaties, collegedictaten, gedichten, foto's en enkele onuitgegeven gedichten van deze joodse schrijver, dichter, journalist en jurist. De Haan werd niet alleen bekend door zijn publicaties, maar ook door zijn betrokkenheid bij zowel het zionisme als de joodse orthodoxie. Hij werd in 1924 in Jeruzalem vermoord. Het archief bestaat uit materiaal dat Jacob Israël de Haan tijdens zijn leven zelf schonk aan de Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana en uit zijn persoonlijke nalatenschap. Ook bevat het archief een aantal aanvullingen van later datum die onder andere te maken hebben met de zorg voor het archief. Het materiaal dateert voornamelijk uit de periode 1904-1924 en is van groot belang omdat het een afspiegeling vormt van het veelzijdige karakter en van de vele bezigheden van De Haan.

The archive of Jacob Israël de Haan contains material from this Jewish writer, poet, journalist and lawyer. In addition to his publications, De Haan was known for his involvement in both Zionism and Jewish orthodoxy. He was murdered in Jerusalem 1924. The archive comprises material that De Haan donated to the Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana during his lifetime, as well as items from his personal estate. It also contains several later additions, relating to such matters as the care of the archive. Most of the archive material dates from the period 1904-1924 and is of immense significance, in that it reflects De Haan's versatility and many pursuits. The archive contains correspondence, personal notes, publications, lecture notes, poems and photos, including a few poems that have never been published.

De collectie bestaat uit vier collegedictaten van H.S. Houthakker uit de periode 1945-1947, van colleges in de economie en de rechtsgeleerdheid aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam.
