Collectie van de Amsterdamse hoogleraar in de farmacie, Cornelia Gerarda van Arkel (1902-1980), bestaande uit overdrukken van al haar artikelen, publicaties die in verband staan met haar academische carrière, foto's en enkele memorabilia.

This collection was formed by Cornelia Gerarda van Arkel (1902-1980), a professor of pharmacy at the University of Amsterdam. It consists of offprints of her articles, publications concerning her academic career, photographs and a few memorabilia.

Archief van het in 1870 opgerichte Corps Berzelius (inclusief zijn sociëteit Fraternitas inter nos). Dit voornamelijk op gezelligheid gerichte corps verenigde de farmaceutische studenten aan het Athenaeum Illustre. In 1873 fuseerde Berzelius met de zuiver wetenschappelijk georiënteerde Vereeniging Unitas Pharmaceuticorum, die de Wetenschappelijke afdeling van Berzelius werd. Het archief bevat onder meer notulen, wetten, correspondentie, ledenlijsten, verslagen van lezingen en voordrachten. Het geeft inzicht in de opzet, doelstelling en werkzaamheden van het corps en zijn wetenschappelijke afdeling.

The archives of the Berzelius student union, founded in 1870 and of its club Fraternitas inter nos. This student union, which mainly focused on companionship, united the students of pharmacy at the Athenaeum Illustre. In 1873 Berzelius merged with the association Unitas Pharmaceuticorum which was purely academically orientated. This became the academic department of Berzelius. Among other things, the archive contains minutes, rules and regulations, correspondence, membership lists, and reports of lectures and presentations. The collection offers insight into the organization, the aim and the activities both of the student union itself and of its scientific department.

De collectie bestaat uit twee collegedictaten van B.A. van Doorn uit 1829 van colleges in de delfstofkunde en de botanie en een viertal handschriften betreffende brandbare stoffen, delfstoffen en plantaardige scheikunde.

The collection consists of two sets of lecture notes on mineralogy and botany made by B.A. van Doorn in 1829 and four manuscripts on flammable materials, minerals and plant chemistry.

De collectie bestaat uit enkele receptenboeken, daarnaast uit ruim 1710 dia's of zogenaamde lantaarnplaatjes betreffende alle aspecten van de farmacie, aangeschaft ten behoeve van het onderwijs in de farmacie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. De collectie dateert voornamelijk uit de tijd van de hoogleraar Pieter van der Wielen (aangesteld van 1901 tot 1942). De encyclopedische aard van de diacollectie maakt dit onderdeel tot een uitstekende bron voor de studie naar de geschiedenis van de farmacie.

The collection consists of several pharmacopoeias and more than 1,710 so-called 'lantern slides', showing all aspects of pharmaceutics. Both books and slides were purchased for teaching pharmacology at the University of Amsterdam. Most of the collection dates from the first half of the 20th century, when Pieter van der Wielen was a professor at the University of Amsterdam (1901-1942). Due to the encyclopedic nature of the slides this part of the collection forms an excellent source for research into the history of pharmaceutics.

De Vereeniging, later het Dispuut H.A.R.T.I.N.G., werd in 1886 in Amsterdam opgericht door studenten wis- en natuurkunde. De vereniging stelde zich tot doel voordrachten (en kritieken daarop) te organiseren in alle disciplines van de faculteit. Het dispuut werd opgeheven in 1941. Het archief, dat redelijk compleet is, omvat onder andere notulenboeken, voordrachten en jaarverslagen. Het geeft een goed beeld van de activiteiten van H.A.R.T.I.N.G.

The student union, later debating society, H.A.R.T.I.N.G. was founded in 1886 in Amsterdam by students of mathematics and physics. Its aim was to organise lectures and comments on them in all the disciplines of the faculty. It was discontinued in 1941. The collection consists of its archive and includes among other things minute books, lectures and annual reports. It is fairly complete and gives a good insight into the activities of H.A.R.T.I.N.G.

Bibliotheek van de Pharmaceutische Studenten-Vereeniging Luctor et Emergo, in 1902 overgenomen en vervolgens uitgebreid door de Koninklijke Nederlandse Maatschappij ter bevordering der Pharmacie (KNMP). De bibliotheek bevat boeken, tijdschriften en enkele handschriften betreffende de farmacie en aanverwante vakken, voornamelijk uit de negentiende eeuw.

The 'Algemeene Pharmaceutische Bibliotheek' – the general pharmaceutical library - was formed by the student union 'Luctor at Emergo'. In 1902 it was taken over and extended by the KNMP, the Royal Dutch Society for the Promotion of Pharmacy. The library contains books, periodicals and several manuscripts about pharmacy and related fields. The collection dates mainly from the 19th century.

Pieter van der Wielen, hoogleraar in de farmacie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, verzamelde afbeeldingen van Cosmas en Damianus, de beschermheiligen van de artsen en apothekers, van over de gehele wereld. De negatieven van deze collectie, vervaardigd ten behoeve van een nooit verschenen publicatie over de heiligen, zijn bewaard gebleven.

Pieter van der Wielen, professor of pharmacy at the Universiteit van Amsterdam, collected reproductions of works of art representing Cosmas and Damian, the saints of physicians and pharmacists, from all over the world. The negatives in this collection, produced for a book that was never published, still exist.
