De collectie Culinair Museum Amersfoort komt voort uit de bibliotheek van het Culinair Museum die van 1994 tot 2008 was gevestigd in het voormalig klooster de Mariënhof in Amersfoort. De kern van de collectie wordt gevormd door de verzameling boeken en menukaarten van de kok en restaurateur W.E.L. te Meij uit Rijswijk (ZH). De collectie is, na opheffing van het museum, overgedragen aan de Stichting Bibliotheken Eemland en gesplitst in twee delen. Het historische deel van de collectie is in bruikleen overgedragen aan de Bijzondere Collecties van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Dit deel bestaat uit gedrukte werken van voor 1961 waaronder kookboeken uit Nederland, de Europese landen en Noord-Amerika; boeken over drank, etiquette, kooktechnieken, de professionele keuken, voedingsleer en hotel- en restaurantwezen. Bovendien zijn in dit deel van de collectie handschriften en tijdschriften opgenomen op het gebied van de gastronomie en menukaarten.

The "Collectie Culinair Museum Amersfoort" (Culinary Museum Amersfoort Collection) originated from the culinary museum which was housed from 1994 to 2008 in the former monastery the Mariënhof in Amersfoort. The core of the collection is formed by the collection of books and menus of the Dutch cook and restaurant owner W.E.L. te Meij from Rijswijk. After the museum closed down, the collection was transferred to Stichting Bibliotheken Eemland and split into two parts. The historical part of the collection was given on loan to the Special Collections of the University of Amsterdam. It includes material printed before 1961, such as cookery books from the Netherlands, from other European countries and from North-America, books about beverages, etiquette, cooking techniques, the professional kitchen, dietary studies, and books about the hospitality industry. The collection also contains manuscripts, journals about gastronomy and menus.

De collectie Johannes van Dam bevat boeken, brochures en handschriften over eten en drinken uit de periode 1705-2013. Deze collectie is sinds de jaren 1980 bijeengebracht door de gastronoom, culinair schrijver en recensent Johannes van Dam.

The collection brought together by Johannes van Dam contains books, leaflets and manuscripts on food and drink from the 1705-2013 period. The collection was started in the 1980s by the gourmet, culinary author and culinary reviewer Johannes van Dam.

In de Gastronomische Bibliotheek zijn de collecties ondergebracht van Joop Witteveen en Bart Cuperus en van Johannes van Dam. Vanaf 2008 worden delen van de collectie in beheer gegeven aan de Bijzondere Collecties van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Het nu bij Bijzondere Collecties ondergebrachte deel bevat naast Nederlandse kookboeken, Duitse, Franse en Engelse kookboeken en verder boeken over drank, etiquette, kooktechnieken, huishoudkunde en voedingsleer.

The "Stichting Gastronomische Bibliotheek" (Foundation Gastronomic Library) incorporates the library of bibliographer and food historian Joop Witteveen and his partner Bart Cuperus and the library of foodwriter Johannes van Dam. From 2006 onwards parts of the collection Stichting Gastronomische Bibliotheek are being transferred to the Special Collections of the University of Amsterdam. The "Gastronomische Bibliotheek" (Gastronomic Library) at the moment contains Dutch cookery books, a few German, French and English cookery books and also books on beverages, etiquette, cooking techniques, home economics and dietary studies.

Gourmand World Cookbook Awards worden sinds 1995 jaarlijks uitgereikt voor kookboeken en boeken over drank die worden ingezonden van over de hele wereld. De collectie Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2012 bevat de genomineerde boeken uit 2011, waarvan een deel bekroond werd tijdens de prijsuitreiking in Parijs in maart 2012. De collectie werd begin 2013 overgedragen aan de Bijzondere Collecties van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. De collectie bevat kookboeken en boeken over drank uit 90 landen. De collectie biedt een internationaal overzicht van kookboeken en boeken over drank uit 2011.

The annual Gourmand World Cookbook Awards honor since 1995 cookery books and books on drinks from all over the world. The nominated books of 2011, including most of the award winning books presented at the award ceremony of 12 March 2012, were donated by Gourmand World Cookbook Awards to the Special Collections of the University of Amsterdam in January 2013. The collection contains books on food and drink, originating from 90 countries. The better part of the books were honored with the Gourmand World Cookbook Award.

De collectie Heijting bevat Nederlandse gedrags-, huishoud- en kookboeken uit de periode 1760-1960. De collectie is sinds de jaren 1960 van de vorige eeuw bijeengebracht door het echtpaar Willem en Coby Heijting. Eind 2012 werd de collectie geschonken aan de Bijzondere Collecties van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. De collectie zal nog worden aangevuld.

The collection of Willem and Coby Heijting consists of Dutch comportment, housekeeping and cookery books dating from the years 1760-1960. The collection was started by Mr and Mrs Heijting in the 1960s and was donated to the Special Collections department of the University of Amsterdam in 2012. Further additions to the collection are planned.

De collectie Kookboek van het Jaar/Gouden Kookboek bevat Nederlandse en in het Nederlands vertaalde kookboeken die vanaf 2007 bekroond en/of genomineerd zijn voor verkiezing Kookboek van het Jaar/Gouden Kookboek. De collectie wordt jaarlijks aangevuld.

The Cookbook of the Year collection contains Dutch-language cookbooks and cookbooks translated into Dutch that have been awarded and/or nominated in the Cookbook of the Year competition since 2007. The collection is augmented annually.

De collectie Geschiedenis van de Voeding van de Bijzondere Collecties van de Universiteit van Amsterdam bevat naast vrijwel alle belangrijke Nederlandse kookboeken uit het verleden, een selectie van buitenlandse kookboeken, boeken over diëten, voedingsleer, huishoudkunde, tafelversiering, etiquette en talloze andere onderwerpen. In de Collectie Geschiedenis van de Voeding is een aantal deelcollecties ondergebracht waaronder de Bibliotheek van het Voorlichtingsbureau voor de Voeding, de Collectie Culinair Museum Amersfoort, de Collectie Heyting, en de collecties Johannes van Dam en Witteveen/Cuperus (deels), die beide deel uitmaken van de Gastronomische Bibliotheek. De collectie Geschiedenis van de Voeding biedt een unieke mogelijkheid om onderzoek te doen naar alle vragen op het gebied van de geschiedenis van eten en drinken.

The "Collectie Geschiedenis van de Voeding" (History of Food Collection) at the Special Collections of the University of Amsterdam contains almost all the important Dutch historical cookery books, a selection of foreign cookery books, books about diets, about dietary studies, home economics, table setting, etiquette and numerous other subjects on food and drink. The collection includes several subcollections: the Library of the Netherlands Bureau for Food and Nutrition Education, the "Collectie Culinair Museum Amersfoort" and a part of the "Gastronomische Bibliotheek" (Gastronomic Library). The History of Food Collection offers a unique possibility to research all aspects of the history of food and drink.

Het Voorlichtingsbureau voor de Voeding, in 2000 opgegaan in de Stichting Voedingscentrum Nederland, is een instelling die gefinancierd wordt door de Nederlandse overheid om consumenten wetenschappelijk verantwoorde informatie te geven over gezonde voeding en voedselveiligheid. De bibliotheek van het Voorlichtingsbureau voor de Voeding schonk in 1996 een deel van haar collectie aan de Universiteitsbibliotheek. De collectie bevat Nederlandse en buitenlandse gedrukte kookboeken uit de periode 1781-1987, enkele afleveringen van tijdschriften, handschriften met recepten en enkele boeken over de geschiedenis van de kookkunst. De collectie biedt inzicht in veranderingen in de bereidingswijze van voedsel in de negentiende en twintigste eeuw.

The Netherlands Bureau for Food and Nutrition Education (Voorlichtingsbureau voor de Voeding), incorporated in the Netherlands Nutrition Centre since 2000, is an independent organisation, funded by the Dutch government, to provide information on dietary health and food safety. In 1996 the Bureau donated part of its library to the Library of the University of Amsterdam. The collection includes 19th and 20th century cookery books printed in the Netherlands and abroad, and some manuscripts on food and cookery. The collection enables research into the history of food in the Netherlands.

De collectie Joop Witteveen en Bart Cuperus bevat boeken, brochures en handschriften over eten en drinken uit de periode 1800-2013. De collectie is sinds de jaren 1970 bijeengebracht door Joop Witteveen en Bart Cuperus. Er worden nog aanvullingen verwacht.
