Henk Backer (1896-1976) was een van de pioniers van de Nederlandse strip die veel succes had met De wonderlijke geschiedenis van Tripje. Zijn archief (1921-1963) bestaat uit origineel getekende stroken, pagina's en tekeningen.

Henk Backer (1896-1976) was one of the pioneers of the Dutch comic strip. His comic strip De wonderlijke geschiedenis van Tripje, about the adventures of a little boy, Tripje, and a little girl, Liezebertha, was a resounding success. His archive (1921-1963) consists of original drawn comic panels, pages and drawings.

Dick Briel (geb. 1950) studeerde aan de Rietveld Academie te Amsterdam en begon in 1979 strips te tekenen. In striptijdschrift Eppo verschenen in 1981 en 1982 twee afleveringen van zijn strip 'Professor Palmboom'. Deze verhalen werden internationaal een succes met acht vertalingen. In die tijd werkte hij ook aan de strip 'Hulbert' voor Mickey Maandblad. Midden jaren 1980 werd het stil rond Dick Briel tot in 1997 ineens een derde album van 'Professor Palmboom' verscheen. De collectie bevat de scenario's, schetsen, schetsboeken, een flink aantal originele tekeningen en de albums die verschenen, alsmede drukproeven, inkleuringen (van de hand van Paula Mazzola) en ander grafisch werk van Briel. Tevens is er een map met contracten rond de stripuitgaven aanwezig.

Dick Briel (born 1950) attended the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and began drawing comics in 1979. Two episodes of his comic strip 'Professor Palmboom' appeared in Eppo in 1981 and 1982. The stories were internationally successful and were translated into eight languages. At the time he was also working on the comic strip 'Hulbert' for the monthly comic strip Mickey Maandblad. Not much was heard from Dick Briel after the mid-1980s, but in 1997 a third 'Professor Palmboom' album appeared. The collection contains the scripts, sketches, sketchbooks, a sizeable number of original drawings and all comic albums to have been published, as well as proofs, colourings (by Paula Mazzola) and other graphic work by Briel. There is also a folder with contracts concerning the publication of Briel’s comic strips.

Henk Sprenger (1919-2005) was een Nederlandse striptekenaar, wiens strips in de jaren vijftig een ongekend grote bekendheid genoten. Zijn belangrijkste en meest bekende strips zijn Piloot Storm en Kick Wilstra. Sprenger was de ‘uitvinder’ van de voetbalstrip. Het archief bevat voornamelijk originele stroken en pagina’s met tekeningen en losse tekeningen.

Henk Sprenger (1919-2005) was a Dutch comics artist whose comics were extremely popular in the 1950s. His most important and best known comics are Piloot Storm and Kick Wilstra. Sprenger was the ‘inventor’ of the soccer comics. The archive mainly contains original strips and pages with drawings and single drawings.

Het archief van Gerrit de Jager (1954) bevat circa 15.000 origineel getekende stroken en pagina’s en losse cartoons van al zijn werk. Daarnaast zijn er merchandising, bronnenmateriaal (ontwerpen) en documentatie aanwezig. Verder bevat het archief veel zwart-wit-films van albums, inkleuringen en ook filmcells, alsmede scenario’s, ingeplakte knipsels van strips en administratief materiaal, waaronder brieven en contracten. Er is ook een harddisk met digitaal materiaal geschonken. Voor de geschiedenis van de Nederlandse samenleving in het algemeen en van de strip in het bijzonder in de jaren tachtig en negentig, is dit een belangrijk archief, aangezien De Jagers strips altijd geënt zijn op de actualiteit.

The archive of Gerrit de Jager (1954) contains approximately 15,000 original hand drawn comic strips as well as pages and single cartoons of all his work. The archive also includes merchandising, source material (designs) and documentation. The archive is furthermore rich in black-and-white films of albums, hand colouring and film cells, as well as scripts, pasted-in comic strip cuttings and administrative documents, including correspondence and contracts. The donation also includes a hard disk with data. The archive is important for the history of Dutch society in general and for the comic strip in particular, especially the 1980s and 1990s, as De Jager’s comic art always reflected current events.

Hans Kresse (1921-1992) was een Nederlandse striptekenaar en illustrator die onder meer bekend is van de strips Eric de Noorman en de Indianenreeks. Hij wordt beschouwd als een van de beste striptekenaars uit de Nederlandse geschiedenis. Deze collectie bevat publicaties van Hans G. Kresse, publicaties waarvoor hij illustraties of omslagen verzorgde, artikelen en krantenknipsels over het leven en werk van Kresse en verzamelobjecten (bv. sigarenbandjes en stickers) gebaseerd op zijn werk.

Hans Kresse (1921-1992) was a Dutch comic artist and illustrator who is known for such comic strips as Eric de Noorman and the Indianenreeks. He is regarded as one of the best comic artists in Dutch history. This collection contains publications by Hans G. Kresse himself, publications for which he provided illustrations or book jackets, articles and newspaper cuttings about his life and work as well as collectibles (such as cigar bands and stickers) that are based on his work.

Alfred Mazure was schrijver, illustrator, striptekenaar en filmer. Hij publiceerde onder het pseudoniem Maz. De collectie Alfred Mazure bevat de originele tekeningen van de Dick Bos-stripverhalen, die werden gepubliceerd tussen 1940 en 1967. De collectie biedt inzicht in de ontstaansgeschiedenis van een van de populairste Nederlandse strips.

Alfred Mazure was a writer, an illustrator, a cartoonist and a film maker. He published under the pseudonym of Maz. The collection Alfred Mazure contains the original drawings of the 'Dick Bos' cartoons, which were published between 1940 and 1967. The collection gives a good insight into the origins of one of the most popular Dutch comics.

Olidin was een stripblad uitgegeven door oliemaatschappij Shell (Shell Junior Club) en vormgegeven door reclamebureau Van Maanen in Den Haag. Het bevatte behalve werk van Nederlandse en buitenlandse stripmakers ook verhalen, puzzels en advertenties. In de collectie bevinden zich originele tekeningen en drukproeven van de stripverhalen.

Olidin was a comics magazine published by oil company Shell (Shell Junior Club) and designed by the advertising agency Van Maanen in The Hague. Besides work by Dutch and foreign comics' writers, it also contained stories, puzzles and advertisements. The collection contains the original drawings and galley proofs of the comics.
