Samsom, Nicolaas, 1845-1917

In de jaren tachtig van de negentiende eeuw startte Nicolaas Samsom in Alphen aan den Rijn een kleine uitgeverij die standaarddocumenten voor gemeentes uitgaf. In de decennia erna groeide dit bedrijf uit tot een grote onderneming die zich ook ging richten op drukwerk en publicaties voor wetgeving, het onderwijs en het bedrijfsleven. Inmiddels is het bedrijf meerdere keren gefuseerd en is het opgegaan in het internationaal bekende concern Wolters Kluwer.

Het archief bevat stukken over de organisatie, bedrijfsvoering, fusies, financiën, personeel, jubilea, correspondentie en producten van de uitgeverij uit de periode circa 1882-1995.

In the 1880s Nicolaas Samsom started a small publishing business based in Alphen aan den Rijn that published standard documents for municipal authorities. In the following decades the company evolved into a large firm that now also focused on print work and publications for legislation, education, and industry and commerce. The firm went through a number of mergers since and has now merged into the internationally known Wolters Kluwer information services company.

The archive contains documents on the publishing house’s organization, operational management, mergers, money management, staff, jubilees, correspondence and publications between circa 1882-1995.
