Bruggen, Carry van, 1881-1932

Carry van Bruggen is een van de belangrijkste Nederlandse schrijfsters uit het begin van de twintigste eeuw en wordt sinds de tweede feministische golf beschouwd als een boegbeeld van de vrouwenemancipatie. Haar bekendste werken zijn het filosofische essay Prometheus en de roman Eva. Het archief (1921-1933) bestaat uit stukken betreffende haar depressie, uit aantekeningen en manuscripten en een aantal knipsels en recensies.

Carry van Bruggen is one of the major Dutch writers of the early twentieth century. Since the Second Feminist Wave, she is regarded as one of the leaders of women’s emancipation in the Netherlands. Her best known works are the philosophical essay Prometheus and the novel Eva. The archive (1921-1933) consists of items relating to her depression, as well as notes and manuscripts and a number of clippings and reviews.
